Amazing hotel,location is spot on!!
I booked this hotel as a surprise birthday present for my husband and it certainly delivered. We had tickets for a show at the Motorpoint Arena and the hotel could not have been better situated. The location is spot on whether it be for shopping visiting a restaurant or going for a drink. Everything is within a stones throw. All the staff are so accommodating and friendly. We were lucky enough to be upgraded when we arrived which was a lovely surprise and the room was lovely. We had a great sleep and can’t wait to return. Thank you!!
City Centre Hotel
We had a two night stay in nottingham and the George was the perfect location for everything. The staff were lovely and friendly and the Breakfast was as good a breakfast we've had for a long time (thanks kath). We would recommend the George to anybody thinking of visiting nottingham.
Great city centre hotel
This hotel is ideally located in the centre of Nottingham and a short taxi ride from Nottingham Station. Check-in is simple and the reception staff are very friendly. The rooms are more than adequate for a short stay with tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, safe and nice toiletries. The towels are good quality. The preordered breakfast is very good value and plentiful. The upstairs bar is small but well presented and Ashley is a delightful bar tender and so friendly but not intrusive. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our second short stay and look forward to returning in the future.
Love this hotel
I arrived as part of a large group at 04.00 and was greeted by the manager - Chris Butler and his staff who were very efficient in giving us our room keys and helping us with our luggage to our rooms. The following morning, the breakfast was extended so that we didn’t miss breakfast. The breakfast was lovely - plenty of choice and very well stocked. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a beautiful old building with an impressive, sweeping staircase. My room was on the 3rd floor, very comfortable and roomy. I have stayed here several times with work as well as a leisure break and am never disappointed. Everyone at the hotel, especially the manager, do everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it if you are looking for a hotel in the heart of Nottingham - very convenient for shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
Nottingham night out
We had a night out in Nottingham On Friday the 19th of February, and stopped over for the night booking in to the Mecure Hotel in Hockley.
I found the staff on the reception to be very polite and helpful the rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice, and very tasty, again the staff on duty at breakfast time were very polite and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel , and will certainly be booking again.Madeline and Phil Holden Grantham
My Favourite Hotel. The Best Staff
I stayed here for a few nights over Valentines after having previously always stayed at another hotel in the city. I thought I’d try somewhere new. I am pleased I did.
The team at this hotel are like non I have encountered before. Every member of staff acknowledged me when walking past them, asked how I was, entered into a conversation. The reception team even had banta and fun with us when seeing us and I loved that. We felt like we were part of their family.
The hotel is admittedly tied in places and needs investment but the hotel is clean throughout and felt covid safe.
My room wasn’t particular modern, but was comfortable and immaculately clean.
I see the review posted previously to mine complaining about noise. The hotel is extremely central and located in probably the busiest area of Nottingham. It isn’t a quiet location by any stretch of the imagination. However, it’s a city centre hotel and this one being in a location such as Hockley is never going to be quiet, so you get what you choose. There were ear plugs in the bedroom. I have seen this in a few city centre hotels and it’s a great idea. More hotels should do this.
If you want quiet don’t choose a hotel situated with bars all around it. It’s not really something you should blame the hotel for in my opinion. That’s more to do with poor decision making and research. They had a bar on the first floor where I had a quiet drink. Ash / Ashley was the person who served us and was just as lovely as all of the other staff members we had met. Very friendly chap.
Breakfast was so good, one of the best I have had in a hotel actually. It was a buffet help your self styled. The food was plentiful and fresh. The staff working breakfast were attentive but not intrusive.
We checked out after a couple of days and spoke with Chris who turned out to be the manager. First time I’ve ever seen a hotel manager on a reception desk. We had a lovely chat and he told us some of the history of the hotel and recommend a few places for lunch that I hadn’t heard of before.
We would totally return to this hotel. It may not be the most modern ( Chris mentioned the owner was keen to refurbish ) but the team here were everything. Chris was so friendly and also a lot of fun. His passion and personality has clearly filtered down to his team.
I loved it here. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Nottingham now.
Amazing location, even better staff!
I can't recommend this hotel enough!! Great location, clean and comfy rooms while the staff here are wonderful and friendly.
A special mention to chris the manger, who made us feel so welcome and was great in recommending places to eat and things to see in the area! Thanks chris! If you're in Nottingham and in need of somewhere to stay! Go here!
Thoroughly enjoyable city break
Our grown up children bought my wife and I two nights, incl. breakfasts, at this hotel. We checked in at 4pm. The reception team were really welcoming and genuinely witty and personable.
We found our Citypad room, which was compact but perfectly suitable for us.
The hotel's location is perfect being in the centre of the Lace Market area of the city, with lots of pubs, restaurants and clubs within a couple of minutes walk.
As our room was at the back corner of the hotel and on the second floor, we didn't expect to have a panoramic view over the city. The view wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't awful either.
The shower room was fine, it was clean, with Mercure branded shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and soap. The towels were clean and smelt freshly laundered, so all fine. We noticed the shower door had come loose on it's bottom runners, but this was fixed by the maintenance team, after mentioning it to the reception team.
The room itself was also nice and clean, with plenty of tea/coffee making supplies.
The bed was really comfy and we had two good nights sleep.
Breakfasts were on the 1st floor, in the Brasserie and again the staff were really friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay, and will definitely stay there again.
The standout from our two nights has to be the staff. They made it the perfect break away for us. Thankyou.
Mercury visit
Very friendly and helpful staff made the stay pleasurable. Room was very clean & quiet. Breakfast was good with well cooked fresh hot food. On departure the friendly reception staff sorted out my loyalty points issue
Really lovely hotel
I have stayed here several times and I always have the best time. The reception team are super lovely and it’s in a great location in Nottingham to go exploring. The receptionist sent us to an amazing restaurant too
