The Newark Castle and Gardens are a lovely formal gardens that have been bordered by the remaining walls of Newark Castle, which was partially destroyed in 1646 at the end of the English Civil War.
Guided tours of the Castle are conducted by the Castle Ranger every week. All tours last approximately one hour and tickets cost £5 for adults, £2.50 for children aged 3 and over, or £12.50 for a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children. The tours normally run on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Castle has surfaced pathways and garden which allow complete access for wheelchairs. When you visit, relax in the quiet gardens and admire the scenic view beyond you. There are regular events and concerts that take place at the gardens.
They offer nearby parking, so it is easily accessible by car. It is also close to historic market places; Southwell market and Newark market, so it's a must to visit all three.
