The Old Market Square is an open, pedestrianised city square in Nottingham. It is the largest such surviving square in the United Kingdom, forming the heart of the city, and covering an area of approximately 22,000 m².
Located in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, the square is bounded by Beast Market Hill to the West, Smithy Row to the North, and South Parade to the South, fantastic areas for shopping. The Eastern end of the square is dominated by the Council House, which serves as Nottingham's town hall.
The nature of the square means it is often used for large local events, fairs, concerts and exhibitions including the Riviera Beach every summer and the Christmas Winter Wonderland. You can also buy local produce, including artisan cheese and meats, at the regular farmers’ markets which take place throughout the year.
